  10. embroidering “forever young” by bob dylan

edit: final photos can be found here!

I was recently commissioned to embroider allllll the lyrics to “forever young” by Bob Dylan.

It took me about two hours to draw them out and and make them look nice and neat, along with some pretty decorations for the buyer. :D You can see the sketch below:

After that, I had to pen over the flowers and stars and get it ready for transferring! It was at this point, as I was pinning the linen to the paper with tons of pins that I thought, “ohlordwhathaveidonewhatamidoing”. I have never done anything so large and detailed before.

Here’s the comparison of the paper and cloth versions:

I sat down yesterday and embroidered for about 9 hours and got nearly halfway through it! It’s a little wonky looking since I can’t wash it yet, but I am so excited. :D I think it’s going to be gorgeous. It’s going to be framed in the 10 inch hoop it’s shown in.

I love the flowers, too - I drew them by hand as well, though I actually got fancy and used my scanner to resize them. :D

I’m about to sit down and embroider more once I wrap up a couple more work things, and I’ll be posting some nicer photos soon once I get a little further! I was losing daylight today, boooo.
